KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo prediction that Apple will have a new design to the front of the “iPhone X”, Kuo says that even if the device varies in color, the front bezel will remain black. This is to ensure a “better aesthetic design” hiding the front-facing camera sensor on the said device, which would stand out as little as black dots on a different colored bezel.
This only means that instead of having a white bezel on a silver or even gold iPhone X, Kuo suggested that black on ever single version of the new device will be better into the 5.8 inch OLED display and sensor notch. The iPhone X is expected to release a limited number of colors like silver, blush gold and black.
These same report highlights the biggest selling point on the new OLED iPhone X, 3D sensing, it includes a break down of all the new components that will be working together for the front-facing sensor bar. From the device left to right, there will be a light receiver, a proximity sensor, ambeit light sensor, front camera and a structured light transmitter. Kuo also noted that the ambient light sensor will not be direclty required for 3D sensing, though it can greathly help the 3D sensing performance.
Kuo also breaks down these sensors and the source of each module, like the structured light transmitter module was made by LG Innotek, it includes a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser designed by Lumentum, and other dozen individual components, diffractiv optical element and alignment equipment.
The predictions for the most of the popular and important applications for 3D sensing, by using facial recognition software to replace the fingerprint recogntion. The offical reveal of Apple iPhone X will be in three days September 12, in Apple’s event in Cupertino.
