Xiaomi just unveiled their new fitness tracker, the Xiaomi Mi Band 2. This is the company’s third fitness tracker in the market to date, and this fitness tracker only cost $23.
The Mi Band includes a OLED display that can display time, step count and heart rate. Xiaomi first released their fitness tracker two years ago, the Mi Band 1 for $13. The second one is the Mi Band Pulse, which can monitor your heart rate.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 has heart rate tracker with upgraded pedometer, a 20 day battery. The fitness tracker is also water resistant, has an optical heart rate sensor. The strategy that Xiaomi uses to sell these devices are the low prices, which helped them sell 20 million fitness tracker devices to date. They beat Apple in the first Q1 of 2016 for the second biggest wearables vendors, Fitbit as first.
Xiaomi also launched a device that helps parents track their childer, it is yet to be launched in China. Hopefully, Xiaomi Mi Band 2 will be able to ship worldwide so we can try and review it on our office.
